Company CEO Sunit Tuli says “Supplies are on to IIT Bombay. In the next few weeks, it should be launched. I do not have the exact date, but HRD Minister ( Kapil Sibal) has said he wants to launch on the anniversary date which is October 5,”

One year ago, the government of India had decided to provide laptops at subsidized price to those students pursuing higher education in government institutes and at that time Aakash Tablet was introduced with the help of Indo-Canadian company Datawind. The first version of Aakash tablet was having many technical faults then-after the company decided to introduce the modified version of aakash, called Aakash 2.

Datawind is currently selling 1500-2000 tablets each day. The company is also offering its customers to upgrade their OS to Android 4.4 version.
Currently the pre-orders for Aakash 2 can be made at the official website of Datawind at www.datawind.com.
