Barfi Movie Review | How is the Barfi Movie?
Movie Story(Plot)
His parents named him Murphy, but everyone calls him Barfi! Always ready with a prank up his sleeve, he’s quite the charmer, especially with the ladies! In Darjeeling, Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) is the talk of the town. Even though he can neither speak nor listen! His bitter-sweet relationship with two beautiful young ladies, Shruti (Ileana D’cruz) and Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) sets in motion a chain of events that will turn his life upside down! UTV Motion Pictures and director Anurag Basu invite you to witness the amusing, naughty and sometimes crazy antics of Barfi. A heart-warming tale of selfless love and about finding happiness in the smallest things in life; that tells you no matter how tough your life may be, “Don't Worry, be Barfi!".

Rediff-Anurag Basu's [ Images ] Barfi! is a well-crafted script with an intriguing back-and-forth narrative but it all goes south towards the end.

A well-crafted script with an intriguing back-and-forth narrative -- set in the present day, 1978 and 1972 -- Barfi! intrigues, right to the point somewhere down the middle, when it becomes more than apparent exactly what the film's story is, after which all goes south.
NDTV-Silences seldom spoke so eloquently. It's been a while since we saw a film that set style at a subsidiary state to substance, put the characters' inner life ahead of the flamboyant manifestations of self-identity in a world governed by benevolence and charm.
Ranbir Kapoor as Barfi or Murphy whatever!...is left to his own devices. An incredibly enterprising actor, he brings a Chaplinesque aura to Barfi's character. Blending a very physical pie-in-the-face style of comic acting with an intangible poignancy, Ranbir turns his character and the film into a muted celebration of life. The tears are hidden from view. But they are there.
Hollywood Reporter-Chances are, someone’s already told you to run out and see Barfi!Anurag Basu’s tender romantic comedy starring Ranbir Kapoor as a deaf man.
The film -- told mostly without dialogue -- is a refreshingly non-commercial exercise, with Kapoor in a Chaplin-inspired performance; Telugu actress Ileana D’Cruz adding elegant solemnity as an upper-class woman who falls for the spontaneous Barfi against her parents’ wishes; and most spectacularly former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, sans makeup, as an autistic girl.
