ICC T20 World Cup 2012 Schedule and Matches


ICC T20 World Cup 2012 - T20 world Cup will be the biggest attraction of this month. It will be the fourth T20 World Cup. First T20 was won by India. This time it’s being played in our neighbour country Sri Lanka. Currently warm up matches are going on. Pakistan defeated India in the warm-up match but still Indian fans are hoping better from the team.


Yuvraj Singh is back into the team after defeating cancer and everybody is expecting the same sixer-boy in action. Harbhajan is also back into the team to crack the wickets of opposition with his “doosra” spin. 

Virat Kohli is in form and able to turn any match to India’s side. India team have a good batting line up with Gambhir, Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj and Kohli. All these things are making chances that India could hold the world cup again. As world cup is being played in SriLanka, and our team is familiar with their wickets. It can also be a helping point for our team.

All matches will be played at 3 stadiums in Srilanka. Their names are:

·         Pallekele Cricket Stadium, Pallekele
·         R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
·         Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Hambantota

There are 12 teams playing in this T20 World Cup. Initially they are divided into 4 groups. Each group will have 3 teams.

Group A
Group B
Group C
Group D
England
India
Afghanistan
Australia
West Indies
Ireland
Sri Lanka
South Africa
Zimbabwe
Pakistan
New Zealand
Bangladesh

Top 2 teams from each group will go to Super Eight. There will be two groups Group E and Group F.
·         Group E: A1, B2, C1, D2
·         Group F: A2, B1, C2, D1

Top 2 teams from each group will be chosen for Semi Finals.
·         First Semi Final: E1, F2
·         Second Semi Final: F1, E2

Final Match will be played between winners of two semi-finals on 7th October at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
