• This year more than 5 lakh candidates  appeared  in IIT-JEE 2012 entrance exam. The Joint Entrance Exam is jointly conducted for all 15 IITs of the country.
•  This year 16,000 more students  appeared for this test. Last year the number was 4.86 lakh whereas in 2010 just 4.56 lakh students took this test. 
• Officers in all JEE offices, informed that they are still scrutinizing the applications and the final number of the test takers  ranges  between 4.75 lakh and 5.02 lakh.
